NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED INCREASE IN TRASH RATES
AND CHARGES FOR THE TOWN OF CHURUBUSCO, INDIANA
Property owners and other interested parties in the Town of Churubusco, Indiana, and other interested parties served by its utility services are hereby notified that Ordinance No. 2020-12, amending the charges and user fees for solid waste collection and disposal in the Town of Churubusco, was introduced at a meeting of the Town Council held on July 1, 2020. A public hearing of the Town Council will be held at 6:00 p.m., local time, on July 15, 2020 at the Scout Building, 501 N. John Krieger Dr., Churubusco, Indiana, on the matter of the rates and charges. Immediately following the public hearing, the Town Council will convene and may consider the adoption of said ordinance.
At such public hearing and prior to final adoption of Ordinance No. 2020-12, all interested parties may appear and be heard. The complete text of proposed Ordinance No. 2020-12 is on file and available for examination and copying at the office of the Town’s Clerk-Treasurer at 204 N. Line Street, Churubusco, Indiana, during regular business hours, and will be available at the public hearing.

ORDINANCE 2020-12
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHARGES AND USER FEES FOR SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL IN THE TOWN OF CHURUBUSCO
WHEREAS, the Town of Churubusco, Indiana, by and through its Town Council has heretofore adopted Ordinance No. 2018-08 which Ordinance established procedures and user fees for the collection of solid waste within the Town of Churubusco;
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-9-30 provides that a Town Council may, by Ordinance establish just and equitable charges for the service rendered for the collection and disposal of solid waste; and,
WHEREAS, the Town Council has deemed it necessary to amend Section I, Part C (Charges and Billing) of Ordinance 2018-08.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Churubusco, Whitley County, Indiana as follows:
SECTION I: COLLECTION, FEES, AND PAYMENT
C. CHARGES AND BILLING
1. Each responsible owner, occupant or lessee of such property shall pay to the Town of Churubusco monthly Solid Waste user fees as follows:
The solid waste user fee shall be $8.50 effective August 1, 2019; | |
The solid waste user fee shall be $9.25 $9.75 effective August 1, 2020; | |
The solid waste user fee shall be $9.75 effective August 1, 2021; | |
The solid waste user fee shall be $10.00 effective August 1, 2022; | |
The above monthly solid waste user fee shall include two (2) curbside clean- ups | |
Included in the above charges is an administrative fee to be used for billing & postal expenses and other activities necessary for the administration of solid waste collection. |
2. The fees set herein are per unit. Additional units may be requested from Churubusco Utilities and charged accordingly.
3. Solid waste collection bills shall be added to the monthly water and sewer bills and are payable therewith.
SECTION III: EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect as of August 1, 2020, upon hearing according to law and passage by the Town Council. The user fees established herein shall remain in effect until amended or changed by the Town Council of the Town of Churubusco. This Ordinance shall amend or revoke any provision of previously adopted Ordinances in conflict herewith.
