Meeting Minutes – April 22, 2022

The Churubusco Town Council met on April 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Scout Building. Members present were council members Devin Keener and Nathan Van Horn; and Clerk-Treasurer, Madalyn Sade-Bartl. Others present Linda Tincher, Post & Mail; Park Superintendent, Rick Krider; and Wastewater Superintendent, Robert Gray.

Council President Devin Keener called the meeting to order, welcomed visitors, and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Clerk called roll. Member Mark Pepple was absent.

Approval of Claims and Payroll Vouchers:
Claims Vouchers dated for April 22, 2022 in the amount of $193,013.65 were presented and approved.

Public Comment:
There were no public comments.

Old Business:
1. There was no old business.

New Business:
1. There was no new business.

Department Reports:
Jeremy Hart, Town Supervisor:
Mr. Hart presented the attached report. She said things were running fine and the park was still cleaning up from the winter.

Bob Gray, Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor
Mr. Gray was not present.

Dustin Papenbrock, Town Marshal:
Marshal Papenbrock was not present.

Rick Krider, Park Supervisor:
Mr. Krider was not present.

Andy Boxberger, Town Attorney:
Mr. Boxberger was not present.

Council Reports:
Mark Pepple:
Mr. Pepple was not present.

Devin Keener:
President Keener stated he had spoken to Mr. Boxberger about refunding money paid by Tim & Lisa Fensler for a grease trap that was never installed. Mr. Boxberger stated since services were never rendered, a refund needed to be made. Mr. Keener made a motion to approve refunding the money paid by Tim & Lisa Fensler for the equipment that was not installed. Mr. Van Horn seconded, and the motion carried 2-0.

Nathan Van Horn:
Mr. Van Horn had nothing to report.

Madalyn Sade-Bartl:
Ms. Sade-Bartl presented the attached report. She stated there was a grant available from the Indiana Destination Development Commission the town was eligible for to place a mural on the side of Michelle’s. While the grant could award up to $5000, the cost of the mural was estimated to be around $8000. Mr. Van Horn made a motion to approve up to $3000 from economic development for a mural on the side of Michelle’s to be used as a grant match. Mr. Keener seconded and the motion carried 2-0.

Having no other business and after all proper papers were signed, President Keener adjourned the regular meeting.
