JOB POSTING- PART-TIME CROSSING GUARD
The Town of Churubusco is currently accepting applications for a part-time, non-exempt crossing guard, employed within the Churubusco Police Department. Applications and a complete job description can be obtained and returned to the Churubusco Government Center, 204 N. Line St., Churubusco, Indiana. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1) Direct or escort pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as necessary.
2) Guide or control vehicular or pedestrian traffic at crosswalk.
3) Communicate traffic and crossing rules and other information to students and adults.
4) Direct traffic movement or warn of hazards, using signs, flags, lanterns, and hand signals.
5) Learn the location and purpose of street traffic signs within assigned patrol areas.
6) Monitor traffic flow to locate safe gaps through which pedestrians can cross streets.
7) Discuss traffic routing plans and control point locations with superiors.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws and signals required. Applicant must be able to physically perform the essential duties of the position including standing/walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, crouching/kneeling, hearing sounds/communication, close and far vision, able to withstand extreme temperatures, able to understand and follow oral and written instructions, able to work with others in a team environment, able to effectively communicate with co-workers and citizens (including children), including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK MORNING & AFTERNOON HOURS AS NEEDED, MONDAY-FRIDAY.

LICENSE / CERTIFICATION NEEDED:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass a pre-employment drug and or alcohol test, and adhere to policy. Must pass a criminal background check.
